This page explains which personal data The Ergon Report collects, why, where it is stored and how to exercise your rights. It applies to ergonbrief.com, ergonreport.com and the emails of both newsletters, published by Salim Cherkaoui.
Who is responsible

What we collect
Your email address and the language in which you read us, when you subscribe.
Your optional answers to the welcome questions (job, sector, age, what you expect from AI or from the Report).
How you found us: the page where you subscribed, the website you came from and the campaign codes in the address (UTM).
An approximate location (country, region, city), deduced from your internet connection when you subscribe or click a link in one of our emails. Never your precise position.
Whether you open our emails and which links you click, measured by a small image and redirected links.
For paying readers: your subscription and invoices, managed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Why
To send you the newsletter you asked for (legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
To measure what is read and write more useful issues, and to send to the most engaged readers first (legitimate interest).
To send you only what concerns you, for example by language, country or profession (segments).
For paying subscriptions: to provide access and keep accounting records (contract and legal obligations).
Where your data is
Subscriber database: Supabase, in Zurich (Switzerland).
Sending of our emails: Amazon Web Services (Simple Email Service), in Stockholm (European Union).
Website hosting: Vercel. Payments: Stripe. During the transition from our former platform, some emails are still sent by Beehiiv (United States).
These providers only process data on our behalf. Transfers outside Switzerland and the European Union rely on the standard contractual clauses of these providers.
We never sell or rent your data.
How long
As long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep only what is needed to never write to you again by mistake. If you ask for erasure, everything is deleted except a fingerprint (hash) of your address, for the same reason. Invoices are kept for the period required by law.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe in one click at the bottom of every email.
In your account (link "My account" on the site), you can see your subscriptions, change your language and addresses, unsubscribe, or delete your account and all your data.
You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your data by writing to salim@ergonreport.com. We answer within 30 days.
You can lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the European Union, with your national authority.
Cookies
The site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. It only remembers your choice of language (a cookie) and whether you closed the language banner (stored in your browser).
